After a successful first edition in 2023, EM PRESSÃO returns in 2024 with a new program.
Between September 30 and November 2, 2024, Viana do Castelo will host a one-off space for artistic creation, presentation and reflection, in a multiplication of activities such as shows, talks, workshops and a transdisciplinary artistic residency.
For one month, we brought together artists, cultural agents and the community to think about how to build strategies, approaches and guiding cultural principles, with an eye to the future..
With collaboration as a fundamental pillar, we propose for this edition to reimagine how we establish and nurture this complex network of relationships between cultural agents and the local community. So, in this edition, we invite artists, cultural agents and the community to reflect on what art can be today and how, together, we interact with and through it.
In a city like Viana do Castelo, where tradition and customs are a big part of the residents' cultural identity, we try to offer more experimental alternatives and different artistic formats. We consider this to be a time for exchanging and discussing ideas and artistic approaches.

O que é o "EM PRESSÃO"?
Held in Viana do Castelo, the 2nd edition of the EM.PRESSÃO event will take place between September 30 and November 2, 2024.
Em.Pressão's program is made up of different activities - shows, talks, workshops and an artist's residency. We try to offer a more experimental alternative, proposing different artistic formats and thus broadening the city's cultural spectrum.
We believe it is necessary to create a space for the discussion of ideas and artistic approaches, in order to promote a sense of community in the city that will encourage new encounters and future collaborations.
We want this project to put the city of Viana do Castelo in touch with the contemporary artistic reality, exposing and expanding the variety of artistic expressions and languages in development.
This project is financed by República Portuguesa - Cultura | DGARTES – Direção-Geral das Artes and support of Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo and Gabinete da Juventude.
The event also has important partnerships such as Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda, Teatro do Noroeste - Centro Dramático de Viana, ESE-IPVC | Escola Superior de Educação de Viana do Castelo, EVIC - Escola Vocacional de Interpretação e Criação, Academia de Música de Viana do Castelo - Conservatório Regional do Alto Minho, Amadeus Music Center, Interferência - Associação de Intervenção na Prática Artística, AO NORTE - Associação de Produção e Animação Audiovisual, AISCA - Associação de Intervenção Social Cultural e Artística.
Onde e quando decorrem os eventos?
The artistic residency will take place at the Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda in Viana do Castelo and at EVIC - Escola Vocacional de Interpretação e Criação, between September 30 and October 29, 2024.
The shows will be performed in the Main Hall of the Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda in Viana do Castelo on November 1 and 2, 2024.
The open rehearsal will take place in the rehearsal room of the Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda on October 19th.
The workshops will take place between EVIC - Escola Vocacional de Interpretação e Criação, ESE-IPVC | Escola Superior de Educação de Viana do Castelo and the Academia de Música de Viana do Castelo - Conservatório Regional do Alto Minho, on October 11, 12 and 13, 2024.
The Public talk will take place at Café Concerto in Viana do Castelo on October 19, 2024.

Como posso obter bilhete para os espetáculos finais?
Although the shows are free, tickets must be collected from 2 hours before the start of each session at the physical box office of Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda.

How can I take part in the Public Talk?
Admission to the talk is free and will take place on October 19 at the Café Concerto of Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda.
